With our current list of airlines and destinations, we are so excited to see an interesting mix of visiting tourists discover what these festivities bring to their schedules during their trips this time of the year. As we know the grand impact and are aware of the key role we play in connecting the carnival lovers to the island, we know it made sense to also be part of an event which is basically the anchor of the entire season”, said Mr. Jonny Andersen, CEO of CAP.

In the past years CAH has been a large contributor to local music festivals such as the Curaçao North Sea Jazz festival, Flying Dutch Festival, Ilan Chester, and most recently the Hak’e Curaçao Summer Festival 2023. CAH plans on expanding its horizons in 2024 by collaborating to bring more international and local artists to Curaçao. Previous successful festivals were even held just east to the CAH premises, on the area adjacent to the Airport called ‘Curaçao Airport Venue’, a locality that is projected to grow and is much liked one due to its openness, breeziness, providing endless possibilities with easy access. possibilities with easy access.

“The vibrancy that the Tumba Festival brings to the island during the entire week and days leading up to carnival, is undeniable. There is such a contagious joy you can feel within any type of company, organization, on the streets and anywhere you go to around the island. These are the moments that characterize us and make us who we are as a community. CUR concludes DCCA’s ‘A Flight to the Future’ Conference with spectacular blood plasma transportation via drone

Willemstad, November 9, 2023 – DCCA’s Flight to the Future conference, hosted by CUR, continued with unwavering enthusiasm in a full ballroom of Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort on Tuesday (second and last day), further focusing on the International Sustainable Air Transportation through its elaborate program. A much-anticipated press conference with the CEOs of DCCA took place on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, where CUR added a ground-breaking demonstration on the Future of Aviation, to completely wrap up this grand event in a grand way.

“We have discussed and shown the endless possibilities. Innovation is unmissable and we will continue to pursue this in our daily business. This event was created by and for industry experts who know which topics are high on all our agendas. As the industry evolves, so does the way we need to see it, learn, and adapt as quickly as possible. We are excited with the outcomes of this conference and look forward to actioning soon on items discussed during this conference”, said Jonny Andersen, CEO of Curaçao Airport Partners, operator of CUR.

Participants enjoying the ongoing conference, were treated to a variety of sessions with local and international industry players as the conference progressed. International partner airlines JetBlue, KLM and TUI contributed to the conversation with their respective outlooks on the future through a panel discussion led by a IATA representative. The extensive day program also included a discussion with aircraft manufacturers Unified International, Ampaire, and Surf Air who focused on their development branch and the operations around this.

The results of a conducted research on the Dutch Caribbean inter-island connectivity were broadly elaborated on during a presentation and discussed further in a following Q&A session as this is a high priority for the six (6) member islands of DCCA.

Financial experts of renowned organizations Rijksdienst Caribisch Nederland, MCB and The Curaçao Financial Group N.V. also dived into the financial challenges airport operators are or could be confronted with during these times and in the future, while utility companies of some participating territories addressed common thoughts on alternative outlooks as they weighed into the program with a focus on their perspectives and expectations to what the future holds as important contributors to the aviation industry. Thus, a full program which left everyone satisfied with the high-level of content presented.

As mentioned initially, a press conference followed on Wednesday at the Jet Centre Curaçao. The CEOs gave a recap on the event, their personal takeaways, and their thoughts and what can be expected from DCCA as a whole. This event also counted on great media and stakeholders’ presence as CUR brought a surprising highlight; a blood plasma transportation via drone which left everyone in awe as it truly showed the Future of Aviation and what it holds and could mean for the islands.

This one-of-a-kind execution started in Otrobanda where the drone was equipped with the blood plasma and carefully transported all the way to the Jet Centre Curaçao at the airport. Present Ministers, Mr. Cijntje and Mr. Cooper joined Mr. Andersen to receive the drone and they gladly assisted in removing the blood from the drone to hand over to Mr. Felix Greving (Unitleider Technische Beheers Organisatie (TBO) of Fundashon Mariadal Bonaire). Mr. Sille, representative of the Blood Bank as well as invited industry partners and stakeholders for this historic moment.

Through this demonstration, CUR showed live, in immediate action, the endless possibilities through innovation when it comes to aviation and all that could be achieved in the very near future. This form of unmanned transportation of blood/blood plasma could be lifesaving and a gamechanger in the health industry of our territories. Transportation of pharmaceutical items could be done much faster when time is of the essence and could be a matter of life or death.

CUR looks back with great satisfaction on this successful edition of the Flight to the Future which it was honored to host and concludes with a special thanks to the entire team that organized this, but also to valued partners. A special thanks to Mrs. Krishna Doll-Oedjaghir, management of CATS, the operator of the Jet Centre Curaçao, for her warm hospitality in hosting the press conference and providing all support needed for a safe and seamless demo with all guests.

CAP’s Safety & Security Week 2023 a grand success

Willemstad, October 30, 2023 – Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP) looks back with great satisfaction on yet another successful Safety & Security week with the theme ‘Safety Culture, Innovation and Security’. Engaging sessions, presentations, and meetings on the area of aviation safety & security were provided to the entire airport community, therewith enhancing, and expanding their knowledge on this key element of the airport’s daily operations.

CAP’s 2nd annual Safety & Security week, which was held from Monday, October 23rd through Friday, 27th, with the official opening at PWFC on Monday, counted with the presence of Minister of Traffic, Transportation and Urban Planning, Mr. Charles Cooper, as well as Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Ruisandro Cijntje, amongst various Stakeholders in the industry and members of the press.

The entire program on the first three days was created with focus on the newest developments on this topic and therefore key players in the industry from ICAO NACC, FAA and a representative of Jet Blue were invited to take part to bring their valuable perspective, insights, and expertise to the team. Safety and security concern all areas in and around the airport and thus the extensive program consisted of various presentations, panels, workshops, live demos, and many more interactive learning and sharing activities.

“Making sure the teams are up to date on this aspect is key, not only for the personnel working at the facilities, but equally important for passengers and visitors. This is an important part of the travel experience of all passengers departing, arriving, or getting a connecting flight at CUR. The main goal remains to promote healthy and safe work practices and consequently a safer environment for all”, said Michael Hoehenberger, COO of CAP, operator of CUR.

A newly introduced ‘Safety Market’ was held on the Airport Boulevard on Thursday. A lively market consisting of different stands, where valuable information regarding personal health and wellbeing, an element crucial to safe practices on the work floor, was provided to the entire Airport Community.

The week was concluded with the highly anticipated FOD Walk early morning on Friday. During the FOD Walk, which is a favorite recurring event for years already, all employees and stakeholders of the Airport got together to help scan and clean the entire runway to remove FOD (any garbage/debris which may be a hazard for the safety of airplanes and vehicles on site). This event was also well visited by guests such as Minister Cijntje, Parliament member Mr. Mercelina, the media, and stakeholders at the airport. Unfortunately, Minister Cooper was abroad and could not attend like he gladly did last year. Link to after video FOD Walk: https://youtu.be/Q4SAFmxpP-Y

Our entire airport community has been excited and engaged through the entire week and that gives us a feeling of satisfaction on a job well done. We set a goal; to reach the goal we need to work together. Investing in expanding the knowledge of our people is extremely important for the path we are on. I am proud of what we have accomplished this week and just as everyone else, already look forward to the next edition”, Mr. Hoehenberger continued.

During the opening event which counted with the presence of distinguished guests including the international keynote speaker, Mr. Steve Mayers, Customer Experience Director and Senior Marketing, Communications officer at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport, as well as Mr. Muryad de Bruin, Director of Curaçao Tourist Board, one of CUR’s highly appreciated industry partners.

We are actively rolling out plans regarding our premises, creating new initiatives, expanding our destinations’ portfolio, and doing so much more to provide the best of the best to our customers. An important part of this enhancement includes the overall experience each person has when visiting or being in contact with our company. As a service providing company, Customer Experience is the basis of our daily operations”.

All activities for this day were set to foster a customer centric culture within the airport community, to assure that everyone truly understands their responsibilities in the collective goal to achieve excellence in the service being provided, by improving the courtesy and helpfulness of all airport staff.

The main goal of this day was to go deeper into the minds, values and believes of the team members when it came to their perception of their roles, to better understand them and where needed, make them even more aware of the impact they have on the start and end of the journey of all travellers. The experience being provided is crucial as it is the first and last impression, they will take along to hopefully promote the island.

This shows that an airport provides more than just a service, it is an important part of a chain that creates a total package of experience for those visiting a destination for whatever goal; being personal, business, or other. Each CAP employee and all members of our airport community therefore have a huge role and responsibility in being an ambassador for our airport and with that, automatically for Curaçao.

As further indicated by Mr. Andersen, the sharing of knowledge and experience elevates companies in not just the aviation industry, but in any other. CUR is therefore grateful to have had international guest speaker, Mr. Steve Mayers, Customer Experience Director of Atlanta Airport who contributed during this Customer Experience Awareness Day. With Atlanta’s airport being the busiest airport in the world, the team looked forward to his insights and took this valuable shared knowledge into their own set journey of growing passenger’s traffic.

Mr. Andersen thanked everyone who took part of this successful first edition and indicated that he counts on further support from the entire local and international community for all the exciting developments that are yet to come.

This was just the first of what the airport hopes to be many more annual Customer Experience Awareness Days. Additional events and projects will be happening throughout the year in support of the implementation of the set strategies to enhance the customer experience in all areas of the airport.

CUR invites the community of Curaçao to stay tuned for the launch of its first newsletter during the coming days. Safety and Security remain a top priority for the airport and its key partners.

Willemstad, September 20, 2023 – CUR | Curaçao International Airport proudly concluded a weeklong Aircraft Recovery Training, which took place from Monday September 11 to Friday, September 15, with a group consisting of employees, airport community members and key partners. Each participant received valuable information to enrich their knowledge on this critical aspect of the aviation safety and overall operations.

Aircraft Recovery Training addresses the process of safely bringing an aircraft back to the ground or water surface in the event of an emergency or malfunction. The level of preparation for such a situation is an utmost important and crucial aspect of the operations as it concerns foremost to ensure the safety of passengers and crew on board during such an event.
Mr. Michael Hoehenberger, COO of Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP), indicated: “Swift and effective aircraft recovery procedures can help prevent catastrophic crashes that can lead to loss of life, prevent secondary damage to aircraft and property damage, as well as environmental disasters.”

A group of twenty participants received theoretical training for four days and went out into the field on the last day for the practical part of the training. This intensive weeklong training was provided by an expert in the field, Mr. John Olsen of the company RESQTEC.

RESQTEC has extensive experience within the industry and was able to train key members of the operation during an eventual situation. The number of stakeholders involved during such a possible event is extensive. Internal and external parties all would need to align and communicate effectively under stressful circumstances. “We continuously hold safety and security training with even an annual week dedicated to this topic. We do not underestimate the importance of proper Aircraft Recovery preparedness and have called in the support of a renowned company to assist in providing even more training to our team members.”, Mr. Hoehenberger continued.

CAP emphasizes on its commitment of strengthening the internal Aircraft Recovery procedures including having the necessary equipment in place as giving the necessary attention to this aspect reinforces public trust and is part of the regulatory compliance. Effective recovery procedures and well-trained personnel in all aspects of the daily operations are essential for preventing accidents, saving lives, and preserving valuable assets.

While World Clean Up Day provided the opportunity to individuals, groups, companies, and other organizations to take part in cleaning different areas of the island, the airport community joined the activities and efforts through the clean-up of their parking area which is intensively used daily.

“Our employees looked forward to getting out there and contributing to multiple causes while working together to achieve a common goal. Not only did they roll up their sleeves and helped to clean and contribute to the environment, but they also contributed to the safety and an enhanced overall experience at our airport for all travellers, visitors and personnel while doing so. This is a remarkable demonstration of commitment and care. It makes me proud to be part of such an outstanding team” said Mr. Jonny Andersen, CEO of Curacao Airport Partners. While the team felt proud to have freed the area of so much waste, they were also concerned about the littering behaviour and mentality which needs to change urgently.

A clean surrounding is of extreme importance for the experience you have at a specific location. Therefore, to us, providing our travellers, visitors, and the entire airport community with an exceptional experience through clean facilities is one of our main goals. We will continue with initiatives and awareness efforts to support this.” Mr. Andersen continued.

Curaçao Airport Partners launches new branding for our airport

A new era, a new name – CUR Curaçao International Airport

Willemstad, Curaçao August 19, 2023 – Curaçao Airport Partners, as the airport operator, festively unveiled the new logo and branding for our local airport past Friday, August 19. As CAP continues its journey into a new transformative era for this crucial facility for the island, this rebrand reflects CAP’s commitment to embracing the role of establishing CUR | Curaçao International Airport as a global gateway, setting the stage for enhanced marketing strategies and international positioning highlighting the island all throughout the modern-day international aviation markets.

With CAP remaining as the current operator of the airport and having launched solely a new branding for the airport, the airport’s new logo features the IATA code “CUR” prominently, underlined with the full name ‘Curaçao International Airport’. This modern and streamlined visual identity is now displayed on the façade of the airport, symbolizing a shift towards a more vibrant and dynamic brand that stands out internationally – a significant milestone in CAP’s ongoing five-year plan for transformation.

The colors of the new logo represent our island’s amazing of beautiful sunsets, which is a daily inspiring spectacle. This mesmerizing sunset, painted in warm hues and softly illuminating the horizon, ignited the creation of the CUR | Curaçao INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT new logo. This logo is more than just a corporate identity; it’s a tribute to Curaçao and its stunning beauty. It stirs feelings of home, warmth, nostalgia and of the rhythm of a song that pays homage to the island’s captivating charm. Today, CUR | Curaçao INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT logo stands for the sublime beauty of the island’s sunset, reminding all who pass through its doors of the unique allure of Curaçao. This nice concept and creation was done by Profound in collaboration with CAP.

The much-awaited unveiling of the new logo on the building was done by CAP CEO, Mr. Jonny Andersen together with the honorable Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Ruisandro Cijntje, Mr. Giordano Molina, Airport Supervision Manager of Curaçao Airport Holding, and Mr. Muryad de Bruin, Director of Curaçao Tourist Board. As part of the distinguished guests present later that evening, were also present the honorable Prime Minister of Curaçao, Mr. Gilmar Pisas, Minister of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning, Mr. Charles Cooper, Mrs. Ruthmilda Larmonie-Cecilia, Minister of Social Development, Work and Welfare, Minister Sithree van Heydoorn of Education, Science, Culture and Sport and Minister Shalton Hato of Justice. Mr Ornelio Martina, Minister for Governance, Planning and Service and Mr. Javier Silvania, our Minister of Finance, were unfortunately unable to make it, however shared their kind words and congratulations to the company.

Furthermore, the whole airport community, stakeholders, and media members were present during this remarkable moment, marking a pivotal juncture in the airport’s history. This moment brought the nostalgia of the past while tying this into the present day. Therewith it not just marked an historic moment, but also set the stage for a bright and promising future for one of the island’s most important economic pillars, being tourism, to continue to thrive.

The importance of this for the island was also substantiated by a beautiful and touching moment during the unveiling, which was the interpretation of the song ‘Atardi’ by legendary artist Mr. Rudy Plaate. The song was performed by local artist Ms. Kris Berry who was invited back home from abroad where she currently resides, to perform during this special occasion and counted on the musical support of iconic local musicians Mr. Randel Corsen and Mr. Michael Lampe of Aruba. As the song perfectly fits and describes the feeling which the logo aims to transmit – a warm and beautiful ‘Atardi’, here on the island, it was more than a logical choice.

“At CAP we know the important role we play in the lives of many. We are not just an entry and departure point for Curaçao. We are a pillar that drives change, where dreams get the opportunity to become reality. We are witness to cherished moments that live on in the hearts of millions and have become an important vein in the heart of this island. This is why we will continue to work tirelessly and relentlessly, to continue evolving into the airport of the future that we need and deserve. As the operator for 20 years already, we will continue with this goal and humbly hope to count on your support for decades to come in order to prolongate this set success story”, said Mr. Andersen.

Mr. Andersen explained that the rebranding is not just a one-day project, it is part of a total package and will include ongoing efforts throughout the coming months. Updates and changes in the physical and digital branding will be gradually implemented and noted as CAP continues to shape and establish this new brand.
CAP thanks all stakeholders for the trust deposited as the operator of our airport and welcomes travelers, partners, and aviation enthusiasts to embark with us on this new journey for CUR| Curaçao International Airport. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements and initiatives that will underscore the airport’s commitment to excellence and innovation, which you are all part of.
